Anthony Kenya’ Robertson Gibson was born September 13, 1969, in Gary, Indiana, to the former Louise S. Robertson and the late Barry E. Gibson. He was baptized at the St. Andrew A.M.E. Zion Church and served as a Christian Education Department officer and Minister of Music with his grandmother Mrs. Velma Mae Robertson. Dr. Gibson is married to the former Belinda Renee Burts. They have three sons: Gregory Anthony, Jeremy Jerrod, and Jared Alexander Gibson; and one granddaughter, Brayya Gibson..

After graduating with honors and voted by his classmates as Most Likely To Succeed from the William A. Wirt Senior High School in Gary, he matriculated to Indiana University in Bloomington, where he completed a double major in Journalism and African American Studies while on a full academic scholarship from Knight-Ridder. He furthered his education at the Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, for the Master’s of Divinity degree. He graduated with Highest Honors (4.0 g.p.a.) from Strayer University with a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management with a specialization in Organizational Development and earned the Doctor of Philosophy in Theology from Trinity Bible College and Seminary. Dr. Gibson is pursuing the Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Spiritually, Bishop Michael A. Frencher, Sr. appointed Dr. Gibson as the 33rd pastor of the historic Jones Tabernacle A.M.E. Zion Church on June 11, 2022. The late Bishop Roy Anderson Holmes appointed Dr. Gibson Indianapolis District Presiding Elder of the Indiana Conference of The African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church on October 2, 2010. On February 23, 2017, Dr. Gibson was elected the seventh and the youngest International President of the Presiding Elder’s Council of The African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. In this role, he provides executive leadership to Presiding Elders around the world in supporting Episcopal leadership, strengthening district stewardship and networking to develop and implement best practices of the Office of the Presiding Elder. He is the former Youth Minister at Broadway Temple Church in Louisville, Kentucky; Pastor of Saint Mark Temple in Indianapolis, Indiana; Wallace Temple in Anderson, Indiana; Taylortown in Louisville, Kentucky; and Johnson Chapel in Springfield, Kentucky. He was ordained in the A.M.E. Zion Church, a Deacon 1996 and an Elder in 1998.

Professionally, Dr. Gibson is Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Tenet Healthcare Corporation, a chain of hospital systems throughout the United States with more than 100,000 employees nationwide. He is also Adjunct Professor at the DeVoe School of Business with Indiana Wesleyan University teaching courses in Human Resource Management, Strategic Business Design, and Leadership. Before this, Dr. Gibson held executive Human Resources positions at Jennie Stuart Hospital & Health System in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Eskenazi Hospital & Health System in Indianapolis, Methodist Hospitals in Gary, Indiana, BrightSpring Health in Louisville, Springfield Healthcare Center in Indianapolis, and Career Systems Development Corporation in Rochester, New York. He has also served as the Affirmative Action Director for the State of Indiana, a contracted Human Resource Director for the US Department of Labor, Assistant Administrator for Manor Care Nursing Home in Anderson, Indiana, and the Executive Director of Student Success and Persistence at Indiana University. He has been a police and court reporter for the Lexington, Kentucky Herald-Leader and the Louisville, Kentucky Courier-Journal..

Dr. Gibson is the chaplain of the Iota Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated; Indiana Conference Treasurer; and Indiana Conference Chairman of the Board of Holy Orders (Ordination). Dr. Gibson is also Past Grand Chaplain of The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Jurisdiction of Kentucky and Past Master of Industrial Lodge #145 P.H.A. Louisville, Kentucky. Elected in 1992 at age 23, he holds the distinction of being the youngest master ever elected in the history of Prince Hall Masonry in the Jurisdiction of Kentucky.
